Most Sunday School material on this site takes the form of the “one-pager” used by the late Pastor Leon Gray of the Berean Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. The mono-space (typewriter) font used mimics his xeroxed sheets he used. They would often mysteriously appear in multi-week bundles on each Sunday School room podium, from the teen department on up to the auditorium class.
Each class had the same lesson, taught in individual ways by their teacher. This made for great conversation on the ride home, as every class beyond elementary ages heard the same Bible lesson.
The “sparseness” of a single page may appear lacking at first, however, this format has proven over and over to be more than sufficient material for a 30-40 minute Sunday School lesson. After a song, announcements, birthdays, and prayer requests, these “short” lessons may in reality become challenging to adequately finish! The subtle brilliance of this method allows teachers to develop and provides space to include personal examples and contemporary commentary.
